DC Dyke March

Shortly after acquiring my first film camera in 2022, my roommate recruited me to participate in DC Dyke March. I was newly out as trans and feeling starved for community. Luckily for me, DC has a robust LGBTQ+ community. It was home to the first-ever Dyke March in April 1993, when 20,000 self-described dykes from across the country joined together to march from Dupont Circle to the White House. As the queer community continues to face increasing threats under fascism—I find solace in these photographs from Dyke March in 2022. It serves as a reminder that our collective presence is powerful and will never be eradicated.
